Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) envisages engaging a large number of faculty and students, and encourage, inspire and nature young students in various innovation and entrepreneurship–related activities such as ideation, problem-solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, IPR, project handling and management at pre-incubating/incubation stage as well as at the initial phases.
At our IIC the faculty and students have ample opportunities to routinely interact with (MHRD’s Innovation Cell)MIC and to participate in various Innovation Initiatives and ATAL Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) by the Govt. of India. The objective is to create a platform for Innovative Projects carried out by our institution’s faculty and students.

IIC regional Meet
The four department IIC coordinators namely Dr.G.Jayajothi, Prof./ECE, Dr.M.Gowtham, AP/Mech, Dr.R.Gunasekaran,AP/EEE, Dr.P.Selvaraj AP/AIDS and two students were attended IIC regional meet organized by The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE at Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on 04.12.2023.
AI-Enabled Product Development
The IIC, EEC in association with Computer Science and Engineering Department was conducted a seminar on AI-Enabled Product Development in Start-ups on 02.09.2023 at Pavaaiammal Hall. The Mr. Praveen Ramalingam, Senior Software Engineer, ICU Medical Inc., Chennai is the speaker of the program
Seminar on Importance of Innovation and Research Publications
The program was conducted by the IIC on 18.09.2021 and the Chief Guest Naveen Eswaramoorthy delivered the importance of innovations and opportunities from government proposals like india.mygov.in, CSIR, BIRAC innovation and also gave ideas about pattern registers. The resource person spoke basics and current industrial opportunities to the participants. Also he shared his industry experience to the participants in the interactive session.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CAPACITY BUILDING FOR INDUSTRIAL NEEDS
Organized Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) supported six days training program on “Science and Technology Capacity Building for Industrial Needs” in two phases during the period, Phase I: 24 .03.2022, 25.03.2022 & 28.03.2022 (3 days), Phase II: 29.03.2022 to 31.03.2022 (3 days). This program was exclusively designed for the Final year Engineering and Diploma Students located in and around Komarapalayam. No registration fee for participants. The Industries, Banking, HR Executives and Educationalists are invited as resource persons to deliver lectures in today’s industrial needs. The training will be very beneficial to the young budding engineers to enrich their knowledge and carry out their career growth in a successful manner.There are 164 participants for phase I and 153 participants for phase II totally 300 participants were participated and benefited.

Developing Online Repository of Business Plan/Prototypes Developed and Way forward plan
The Institution’s Innovation Council was organized a seminar on “Developing Online Repository of Business Plan/Prototypes Developed and Way forward plan” for the faculty members on 16.04.2022. There are 156 faculty members from various colleges of Excel group of institutions were participated and benefited.
Poster Competition
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Excel Engineering College (Autonomous), Komarapalayam, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu was organized a Poster Competition for Celebrating 75 years of Independence for the students on 13.08.2022. Dr.P.Karunakaran, President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) welcomed participants. Dr.K.Bommanna Raja, Principal, Excel Engineering College addressed about the poster presentation and Entrepreneurships. There are 32 teams presented the posters on Innovation and Entrepreneurships and 355 faculty members/students participated and visited the presentations from various colleges of Excel group of institutions were participated and benefited. The Principal distributed prices and certificates for the prise winners and encouraged to become an Entrepreneur. Dr.E.R.Sivakumar, EDC- Coordinator delivered the vote of thanks for all.
Field Visit
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Excel Engineering College (Autonomous), Komarapalayam, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu was arranged a visit to INTECH 2022, Coimbatore (field visit ) for the UG students on 04.06.2022. 12 faculty members and 140 students visited the stalls. Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship knowledge created to the students.
National Level Two days Ideation workshop on “Research & Innovation for Millet based value added products”.
The IIC and Department of Food technology is organized Food Technology National Level Two days Ideation workshop on “Research & Innovation for Millet based value added products”. In this connection, Dr.K.Bommanna Raja, Principal, Excel Engineering College, Executive Director – Excel Technical Campus, Consented to be the Chief Guest and Dr.S.Anbukaruppusamy Director – Admin, Dr.C.Karthikeyini, Director – Academic, Excel Engineering College Consented to preside over the function and delivering the expert talk in Innovative & research millet based product development”. Students from various colleges have developed a millet based value added products around 49 products were developed and won various prizes. The students are learned research in the field millets product development, Start-up and entrepreneur development. In this sessions awareness was created among the students about the product development, projects selection and execution of research activities based on different food products formation and development. At the end of the session students are able to learn the scope to get placement and develop the research activities at the deferent areas in food production fields.
Familiarization Program on Startup and Entrepreneur Development & Refresher Program on Innovation, Research and Publication of Intellectual Properties
The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) was organized the “Familiarization Program on Startup and Entrepreneur Development” in the forenoon session & “Refresher Program on Innovation, Research and Publication of Intellectual Properties” in the afternoon session for the faculty members of Excel Group institutions.
The chief guest Dr.S.Jaishankar, Project Officer -Tamil Nadu, EDII, Ahmadabad delivered the inaugural address for the program and he gave innovative ideas to start a business by students and faculty members through Technology Business Incubation Centre available in the institutions and delivered lecture about Startup and Entrepreneur Development.
The chief guest Dr.A.Sivakumar, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Kongu Engineering College, Erode delivered lecture about Innovation, Research and Publication of Intellectual Properties in the afternoon session.
This program was exclusively designed for the faculty members of Engineering and Diploma Students located in and around Komarapalayam. No registration fee for participants. There are 150 participants were participated and benefited.
Smart India Hackathon 2022 (Software Edition) – Nodal Center for Senior Edition
The Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) was selected as one of the nodal center to facilitate the Smart India Hackathon Software edition. Total 29 teams having 174 participants are competing against 7 problem statement from 2 Ministries. Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) is hosting problem statements given by National Digital Education Architecture and Department of School Education & Literacy. Each Problem statement has a winning amount of Rs 1 lakh. Under the student innovation category three prizes of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75000, and Rs. 50000 will be provided to the winning teams.
Inauguration of Smart India Hackathon 2022 grand finale at Nodal Centre Excel Engineering College (Autonomous)

Smart India Hackathon 2022 (Online) – Nodal Center for Junior Edition
The, Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) was selected as one of the nodal center to facilitate the Smart India Hackathon Junior edition. Total 46 teams having 200 participants are competing given problem statement. Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) is hosting.
State Level Student Projects Seminar Cum Exihibition
The Excel Engineering College, and Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) jointly organized a 2 days state level student projects seminar cum exhibition on 25 & 26 November 2022. There are 1070 project batches that have been shortlisted and funded in the academic year 2021-22. All the project batch students were called for this two days State Level Student Projects Seminar Cum Exhibition by Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology, Government of Tamilnadu, Directorate of Technical Education Campus, Chennai – 600 025. About 474 students participated with their faculty members, parents and batch students in the Seminar and 110 projects were exhibited.
IIC Regional Meet 2022
The four faculty members namely Dr.P.Karunakaran, Precedent, IIC/EEC, Dr.R.Vinoth, Professor/Mechanical Engineering, Dr.P.Murugesan, Associate Professor/ Foot Technology, Dr.Ponnusamy, Assistant Professor/ Physics were attended the IIC regional meet in PSNA College of Engineering College and Technology, Madurai Tamil Nadu on 08.08.2022 and participated in the poster presentation.
National Level Workshop on IPR
The Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Government of India, Nagpur, (Under National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission) Organized National Level Online Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) – Patents and Design filing on 25.01.2023. There is no registration fee to participate the program and E- Certificates were given to all participants who attended the program. Mrs Pooja Vishal Maulikar Examiner of Patents & Designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur was delivered the lecture.
Seminar on Innovative Design
Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), Excel Engineering College in association with Department of mechanical Engineering organised a Seminar on Innovative Design Tools for Strategic and Societal Application on 17.02.2023. Dr.P.Ponnusamy, Professor, Department of Thermal and Energy Engineering, VIT is the Chief Guest for the event.
Business Model Canvas
Institution’s Innovation Council and Excel Foundation Technology Business Incubator of Excel Engineering College (Autonomous) jointly organized a Programme titled “Business Model Canvas” on 01.04.2023 at 10.00am. Mr.M.K.Elango, Founder & CEO, Elan Digital, Salem was the Chief Guest explained about how an organization creates, delivers and captures value. He also discussed about various Lenses, different areas of big importance when developing and defining our business model. 230 students and 20 faculty members were participated and benefited by this programme.
World Creativity and Innovation Day – Webinar
The webinar was by organized by IIC in association with EDII-TN to celebrate World Creativity and Innovation Day on 21.04.2023 and participated 185 students from Excel Engineering College. The webinar was aimed at providing valuable insights and knowledge about the entrepreneurial journey to students and IIC coordinators. Several successful start-up entrepreneurs from various fields such as Herbly’s rituals, Green cart, Biotechnology, Nutrigenetics life science, SMJ products Pvt. Ltd., and Spezer Tech shared their experiences and talked about their journey.
Entrepreneurship Awareness program
IIC, Excel Engineering College in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness program on 26.5.2023. Dr.Vimal Nishant, Principal, ECCS was the chief guest.
AIC RAISE 2023 Expo
Three faculty members and two students were participated in The Startup 20X SUXSS is a biggest one day conclave hosted by AIC RAISE, Coimbatore (a leading innovation and incubation centre in India) on 28.04.2023. A free stall was given for our students to exhibit projects / prototypes.
Our student’s products were displayed in the AIC RAISE 2023 expo conducted on 28.04.2023 at Coimbatore.
