Pongal Celebration – 2026

The Pongal Celebration was conducted with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit at Excel Polytechnic College, under the banner of Excel Group Institutions. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu and brought together students, faculty members, and staff in a festive atmosphere.A special attraction of the celebration was the arrival of the famous “Villangam” Jallikattu Bull, which symbolized the pride and valor of Tamil culture. The bull was warmly welcomed, and everyone gathered to witness this unique cultural highlight. 

All the departments of the institution actively participated by organizing traditional Pongal cooking and special poojas. The beautifully decorated Pongal pots and traditional rituals reflected the unity, devotion, and cultural values of the institution. The celebration was graced by the Principal, Heads of Departments (HODs), faculty members, and students, who inaugurated and felicitated the event. Their presence and encouragement made the celebration even more memorable. 

Several traditional games and cultural events, including Tug of War (Kayiru Izhuthal), Uriyadi, and Cultural Dance Performances, were organized. Students enthusiastically participated in these events, displaying teamwork, talent, and sportsmanship. The vibrant performances and friendly competitions added colour and excitement to the celebration. The Pongal celebration concluded on a joyful note, strengthening the bond among students and staff while promoting Tamil culture, tradition, and unity. The event was a grand success and created unforgettable memories for everyone who participated.
