1.Guest Lecture on Six Sigma in Lean Manufacturing

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Excel Polytechnic College, organized a guest lecture on “Six Sigma in Lean Manufacturing” on 21st July 2026. The programme began with an invocation, followed by the welcome address by Mr. M. Moorthi, Lecturer. Mr. M. Srikanth, Vice Principal & HOD, felicitated the gathering, and Prof. A. Subramanian, Principal, delivered the presidential address.

The keynote session was presented by Dr. Deepak Sankaran, Associate Professor, Business School, Excel Engineering College, who explained the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and the DMAIC methodology. He highlighted their role in improving quality, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity in manufacturing industries.The session was informative and interactive, providing students with valuable insights into modern quality management practices and their industrial applications.

2. Guest Lecture on “Industry 4.0”

A Guest Lecture on “Industry 4.0” was successfully organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department of Excel Polytechnic College on 04.07.2026. The session was delivered by Dr. M. Bharathiraja, B.E., M.E. (M.Tech.), Ph.D., who shared valuable insights into Industry 4.0 technologies, smart manufacturing, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), and future industrial trends. A total of 152 students actively participated in the programme.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. M. Moorthi, the programme coordinator. Mr. M. Srikanth, Vice Principal, delivered the Felicitation Address, highlighting the importance of emerging technologies in engineering education. Principal Prof. A. Subramanian motivated the students with an inspiring speech, encouraging them to develop industry-relevant skills and embrace continuous learning. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. M. Moorthi, expressing gratitude to the resource person, management, faculty members, and participants for making the event a grand success.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a club activity on “Design for Manufacturing – Precision through CAD” in the CAD Lab from 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. The activity was coordinated by Mr. R. Karunanidhi.The programme began with a motivational address by Mr. M. Srikanth, Vice Principal, who encouraged the students to enhance their CAD design skills and participate actively in technical activities. Mr. A. Subramanian, Principal, appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of such activities in developing industry-relevant competencies.

The students actively participated in the design activity and designed and assembled the given diagrams, The designs were evaluated by the jury members, Mr. M. Moorthi and Mr. R. Mani, who provided valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement.The activity successfully enhanced the students’ understanding of CAD-based design for manufacturing and encouraged them to improve their technical and problem-solving skills.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. R. Mani, who also served as the Programme Coordinator. Principal Prof. A. Subramanian delivered a motivating speech, encouraging students to enhance their technical skills and prepare for Industry 4.0. The Chief Guest was honoured by the Principal with a shawl and memento in recognition of the valuable contribution to the programme. The event concluded successfully, enriching the students’ technical knowledge and strengthening their industry readiness.

5. Mechanical Engineering Department Rank Holders – April 2026 Board Examination

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Excel Polytechnic College, proudly congratulates its students for their outstanding performance in the April 2026 Board Examinations. The students have secured excellent academic results, reflecting their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.

In the III Year – VI Semester, Gowtham P secured the First Rank (9.00/10), Ranjithkumar V secured the Second Rank (8.83/10), and Ragul K secured the Third Rank (8.67/10).In the II Year – IV Semester, Mohan P achieved the First Rank (10.00/10), while Kowshick T and Siddheswaran T jointly secured the Second Rank (9.84/10), and Aruneswaran C secured the Third Rank (9.74/10).

The students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Excel Polytechnic College, participated in MACHINAX’26, organized by E.I.T. Polytechnic College, Kavindapadi, and brought laurels to the institution through their outstanding performances.

  • Mr. S. Gokul Kishore and Mr. D. Kowshik secured III Place in the CAD Modelling competition and received a cash prize of 1,000.
  • Mr. P. Yuvaneshan and Mr. S. Vimalraj won I Place in the Mr. Mechanics competition and received a cash prize of 600.

Their achievements reflect the students’ technical excellence, creativity, and practical engineering skills, bringing pride to the Mechanical Engineering Department and Excel Polytechnic College.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Excel Polytechnic College, organized an Industrial Visit to LingaBhairavi Engineering, Coimbatore, on 28.02.2026. The visit was coordinated by Mr. V. Karthikeyan and attended by 145 students along with 6 faculty members.

The industrial visit provided students with practical exposure to modern manufacturing processes, CNC machining, quality control, and industrial production practices. Students interacted with industry professionals and gained valuable knowledge about real-time engineering applications, enhancing their technical skills and industry readiness. The visit was highly informative and beneficial for their academic and professional development

10. Industrial Visit – Department of Mechanical

Industrial Visit Report

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Excel Polytechnic College, organized an industrial visit to Ideal Automation, Coimbatore, on 25-07-2026. A total of 113 students (28 II Year and 85 III Year) along with 5 faculty members participated in the visit.

The visit provided students with practical exposure to industrial automation, CNC machines, PLC systems, robotics, and modern manufacturing practices. Students gained valuable insights into production processes, quality standards, and industrial safety.

The industrial visit enhanced the students’ technical knowledge, practical skills, and understanding of current industrial technologies, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.
