According to the policy of the government of India, the Institute has resolved that affirmative policies, programs, schemes, and facilities are provided to persons belonging to socially and economically weaker sections of society, including persons with disabilities.
To ensure the implementation of the affirmative policy of the Government of India/UGC and the orders timely issued by such authorities for the benefit of SC/ST/OBC community, the Institute formed an SC/ST/OBC Cell in accord with UGC letter no. F.1–26/76 (CP/SCT) dated June 27, 1979.
Objectives
To implement the reservation policy for SC/ST/OBCs as per University’s Guidelines in the Colleges.
To collect data regarding the implementation of the policies in respect of admissions in the colleges.
To take such follow up measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down for the purpose by the Government of India and the UGC.
To implement, monitor and evaluate continuously the reservation policy in colleges. To plan measures for ensuring effective implementation of the policy and programme of the Government of India.
To enhance equal opportunities for education.
To encourage enrolling for career orientation programs which would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career options.
To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the constitution of India. The SC/ST/OBC Cell will provide comprehensive preventive and proactive services to all such students enrolled for various academic programmes in the college. The goal of the cell would be to enhance the psychological wellbeing of SC/ST/OBC students at Excel College for Commerce and Science, so they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities at the College.
Responsibilities:
To observe the reservation policy for SCs/STs and OBCs in the institution.
Committee often meets the students and faculties belonging to SC/ST & OBC communities, to understand their problems and to assist them in resolving the problems.
Creating awareness among the SC/ST & OBC students regarding the various Government and Non-Government scholarship schemes.
To disseminate and counsel SC/ST & OBC students of the college to utilize the benefits of the schemes offered by the Government and UGC.
