About the Cell

The most meaningful and longest social movement still continuing in the present day is the emancipation of women. Though the main purpose for women empowerment is to enhance the quality of life for women, it is also have deep ramifications in social, economic and political scenario. In a country like India we see that women have been relegated to a secondary position. The vested interest of the elite class has played an important part in pushing them to oblivion. Women’s uplift is the main objective of the WEC and intends to safeguard women from the social discrimination.

Vision

Visualizes a future where women empowerment is no more a goal but a reality. Assurance of justice and equity in society to women by extending academic, financial, emotional and moral support is the focal point of the vision of the institution.

Mission

Promoting social and economic empowerment of women through cross-cutting policies and programmes, mainstreaming gender concerns, creating awareness about their rights and facilitating institutional and legislative support for enabling them realize their human rights and develop to their full potential. Ensures the development, care and protection of children through cross-cutting policies and programmes,spreading awareness about their rights and facilitating access to learning,nutrition,institutional and legislative support for enabling them to grow and develop to their full potential.

WEC in ECCS

Women Empowerment and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the enlistment and progress of our nation. In the effort the Women Empowerment Cell has been constituted in August 2018, under the Convenorship of Mrs.M.Poongodi, Assistant Professor in Mathematics. The Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within the campus as well as in the society. It has been organizing varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events for the uplift of women and spread the real importance of gender equality in the society through the College students.
