Workshop On “Intellectual Property Rights And Copy Rights Of Scripts & Screenplay”

The Department of Visual Communication, Excel College for Commerce and Science, organized a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights and Copy Rights of Scripts & Screenplay” on 18th July 2025 at Palaniyappar Hall.

The event commenced with the soulful rendition of Tamil Thaai Vazhthu. Mr. P. Karthik, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, warmly welcomed all dignitaries, faculty members, and students, setting an enthusiastic tone for the event. Dr. V. Raman, Head of the Department of Visual Communication, honored the esteemed Chief Guest with shawl and a token of appreciation. Dr. T. Shankar, Chief – IQAC, Excel College for Commerce and Science, delivered the Presidential Address. He emphasized the significance of copyright awareness and inspired students to engage in creative fields. Dr. S. Subramaniyam, Programme Head, School of Commerce, delivered a thought-provoking felicitation address. He encouraged students to embrace opportunities in the media industry innovation and originality.

Mr. S. Sudhakar, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, introduced the Chief Guest with a detailed insight into his professional accomplishments and contributions.

The keynote was delivered by Dr. P. Panbuselvam, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, PSG College of Arts and Science. He provided an in-depth overview of the importance of copyright laws, particularly in the domains of scriptwriting and screenplay. His address also covered the essentials of content creation, script development, and protecting intellectual property in the creative industry.

Mrs. S. R. Nandhinee, Assistant Professor, Department of English, delivered the Vote of Thanks. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, student participants, and especially the Chief Guest, for their presence and contribution to the success of the workshop. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of an insightful and inspiring session.
