The AIDS Awareness Programme on “UNITE FOR A HIV-FREE GENERATION” was held on 23rd December 2024 at Vellapar Hall, starting at 1:30 PM, organized by the RED RIBBON CLUB of Excel College for Commerce and Science. The session commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a warm welcome address by Mr. R. Rajkumar, Assistant Professor of Chemistry. The event was supported by Dr. T. Shankar, Chief of IQAC, ECCS, and was guided by the leadership of Dr. R. Vimal Nishant, Principal of the college, whose encouragement was pivotal in its success. Dr. K. Manjula, Program Head, emphasized the importance of AIDS awareness in the modern era, stressing the need for education and prevention efforts to curb the spread of HIV. Mrs. M. Kanimozhi, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Kavitha, Professor of Biochemistry at KMCH College of Nursing, who delivered an insightful session on AIDS awareness. Dr. Kavitha’s presentation covered critical topics such as the causes, prevention, and impact of HIV/AIDS, highlighting the significance of safe practices, empathy, and the importance of early testing. Her session aimed to inspire students to make informed decisions and adopt responsible behaviors in their personal and social lives. With 300 students actively participating, the programme provided valuable knowledge and generated meaningful discussions. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Ms. Manjusree, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, who acknowledged the contributions of the organizers, speakers, and attendees. The session left the participants with profound insights on combating HIV/AIDS, marking the event as an immense success, which concluded with the National Anthem, reinforcing the message of unity for a HIV-free generation.
