World Tuberculosis day Seminar on 24.03.2026

A seminar was organized on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day on 24th March 2026 with the objective of creating awareness about tuberculosis (TB), its prevention, and management.

The program was organized under the guidance of the respected Principal, Dr.M.Maignanamoorthy  and the session was delivered by Dr.S.Sushma, Assistant Professor who provided valuable insights into the causes, transmission, and clinical features of tuberculosis. She emphasized that tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and primarily affects the lungs, though it can involve other organs as well.

The resource person highlighted the importance of early diagnosis through sputum examination, chest X-ray, and other investigations. She also explained the standard treatment protocols, including the use of anti-tubercular therapy (ATT), and stressed the importance of treatment adherence to prevent drug resistance.

Preventive measures such as maintaining good hygiene, proper nutrition, vaccination (BCG), and early detection were discussed in detail. The seminar also focused on public health strategies to control TB and the role of healthcare professionals in spreading awareness.

The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and clarifying their doubts. The seminar significantly enhanced awareness and understanding of tuberculosis among the attendees.
