Blood Donation Camp
Objective
To promote voluntary blood donation, social responsibility, and community health awareness among students and staff, while supporting life-saving medical needs through collaboration with recognized blood banks and voluntary organizations.
Brief Introduction
The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club of Excel Polytechnic College jointly organized a Blood Donation Camp as part of the institution’s extension and outreach activities. The programme was conducted in association with the Rotary Club of Erode Central and medical professionals, reflecting the college’s commitment to societal service and NBA/NAAC-aligned community engagement.
Detailed Report
The Blood Donation Camp commenced with a formal inaugural session attended by faculty members, NSS volunteers, and student donors. Medical officers briefed participants on donor eligibility, safety protocols, and the clinical importance of voluntary blood donation. Screening of donors was carried out systematically, followed by donation under the supervision of qualified medical staff. Students demonstrated exemplary civic sense by volunteering in large numbers and assisting in registration, refreshment, and post-donation care. The camp atmosphere remained disciplined, hygienic, and well-coordinated throughout the day. Faculty mentors ensured that academic schedules were adjusted to enable maximum student participation without compromising safety. The initiative strengthened institutional–community partnership and reinforced the value of humanitarian service among diploma engineering learners. Documentation of the activity, including geo-tagged photographs and attendance records, was maintained for accreditation and website publication purposes.
“Donating blood made me feel that even as a student I can save lives. It was a proud moment for our NSS unit.”

More than 250 students actively participated in the programme. The session provided valuable insights and enhanced students’ awareness of public health, social responsibility, and safe transfusion practices.
