On behalf of 11.01.2024 and 13.01.2024, The Pongal celebration at Excel College for Commerce and Science was a vibrant event that showcased Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage. The campus was beautifully decorated with colourful kolams, sugarcane, and turmeric plants, creating a festive atmosphere.

The celebration began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and an inspiring address by the Principal, Dr. R. Vimal Nishant, emphasizing the significance of Pongal as a festival of gratitude and togetherness.

Highlights included a live demonstration of Pongal preparation, cultural performances such as Karagattam and Kummi, Tamil songs, and a skit on the festival’s historical importance. Competitions like rangoli-making, pot-breaking, and traditional games like Silambam added excitement to the event.

The day concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring competition winners and a vote of thanks to everyone who contributed to the celebration.
