The Department of Textile and Fashion Designing & Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Excel College for Commerce and Science, Komarapalayam organized an Industrial Visit to SCM Garments PVT. Ltd, Avinashi, Tirupur, for the benefit of the students. A total of 60 students, along with three faculty members Mrs. D. Padmalatha, Assistant Professor, Mr. M. Venkat Prasath, Assistant Professor, and Mr. S. Gopikrishna, Assistant Professor participated in this visit. The primary aim of the visit was to provide the students with practical exposure to the functioning of the apparel industry and to help them connect theoretical knowledge with real-time industry practices.

During the visit, the students observed various sections of garment manufacturing such as fabric inspection, cutting, stitching, printing, embroidery, quality control, finishing, and packing. The students had the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and gain firsthand knowledge about production techniques, quality standards, and modern technologies used in apparel manufacturing. They were also introduced to sustainable practices followed by the unit, giving them insights into eco-friendly approaches in the textile industry. This industrial visit was an enriching experience that enhanced the students’ understanding of garment production and industry operations. The management of SCM Garments extended their full support and provided a detailed explanation of each process, making the visit highly informative and educational.
