Excel College for Commerce and Science, in collaboration with Eco Club and Department of Textile and Fashion Designing, and Costume Design & Fashion, organized a vibrant rally on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Komarapalayam. The rally brought together 129 enthusiastic students along with Dr.K.Christie Jennifer, Head of Department (HoD) and 10 dedicated faculty members. It served as a remarkable initiative to raise awareness and inspire action towards achieving the SDGs.The rally commenced with a ceremonial flag-off by Mr. Rama Moorthy, a senior officer from the Komarapalayam Municipality, adding official endorsement and significance to the event. With colourful banners and energetic chants, the procession made its way through the streets, drawing attention to the crucial importance of sustainable development.
Throughout the rally, participants actively engaged with the community, disseminating information about the 17 SDGs established by the United Nations. They emphasized the importance of eradicating poverty, promoting gender equality, ensuring access to quality education and healthcare, combating climate change, and fostering sustainable communities, among other goals.The event served as a platform for dialogue and education, enabling students and faculty members to interact directly with local residents and stakeholders. Through engaging conversations and interactive activities, the rally effectively communicated the relevance and urgency of addressing global challenges through local action.
By bridging academia with local governance and community engagement, the rally exemplified the college’s commitment to fostering sustainable development. It not only raised awareness but also inspired tangible actions towards building a more environmentally conscious and socially equitable future.
