Micro Green Growing Competition organized by the Eco Club

On 9th December 2025, Excel College for Commerce and Science, Komarapalayam, hosted a Micro Green Growing Competition organized by the Eco Club. The event, which took place at 10:20 AM in front of the Herbal Garden at the A8 Block, saw participation from 34 students across various departments. Its primary goal was to raise awareness about the health benefits, sustainability, and environmental importance of growing microgreens. The participants demonstrated exceptional creativity and eco-consciousness as they nurtured their microgreens with care and implemented eco-friendly techniques for their presentations. The competition was judged by Dr. T. Sankar, Chief IQAC, and Dr. K. Manjula, Programme Head of the School of Arts and Science. Judging criteria included the quality and appearance of the microgreens, the eco-friendliness of the presentation, and the clarity with which participants explained their efforts. The winners will recognize with certificates, with Ms. K. Abhinaya winning the 1st prize, Ms. J. Mohanapriya securing the 2nd prize, and Ms. T. Sowmitha achieving the 3rd prize. The event was coordinated by Mr. A. Hariprasath, Assistant Professor of English and Eco Club Coordinator, alongside Mrs. R. Sathyadevi, the Co-Coordinator of the Eco Club. This competition provided students a valuable platform to showcase their skills, exchange ideas, and promote sustainable practices. It highlighted the significance of simple yet impactful actions, such as cultivating microgreens, in contributing to a healthier and greener future. The success of the event was a testament to the dedication of both students and faculty toward environmental conservation and sustainability, underscoring the importance of fostering eco-friendly initiatives within academic communities. The competition not only encouraged sustainable living practices but also inspired the participants and attendees to adopt greener lifestyles for the betterment of the environment.
