Rules & Regulations of University
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 of the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamilnadu Act 37 of 1987), the standing Academic board of the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai hereby makes the following Regulations:
- The course is aimed at overcoming the lack of properly trained personnel in the field of Naturopathy and yogic Sciences with a proper scientific background in sufficient numbers.
- Duration of the course will be 4 ½ years with 1 (one) year internship. After completing the course successfully, a graduate will have to undergo internship for a period of one year. Degree will be awarded only after satisfactorily completing the one year period of Internship.
- The Medium of Instruction for the BNYS degree course shall be in English
- The curriculum and syllabus for the course shall be as prescribed by the Standing Academic board from time to time
- Working days in an academic year shall consist of not less than 200 working days.
- Attendance Requirement for Examination:
- No candidate shall be permitted to appear for B.N.Y.S examinations unless he has attended the course in the subject for the prescribed duration/ hours of study in an affiliated Institution by the University and produce necessary certificate of study, attendance, satisfactory conduct and progress from the Head of the Institution.
- A candidate is required to put in minimum 75% of attendance as mandatory in both theory and practical, separately in each subject before admission to the examination, including yoga practical classes for one hour daily throughout the course.
- A candidate lacking in the prescribed attendance and progress in any one subject in theory and practical shall not be permitted for admission to the entire examinations in the first appearance.
- At the time of practical examination, each candidate shall submit his/her laboratory notebooks duly certified by the Head of the Department as a bonafide record of the work done by the candidate.
- The Internal assessment marks (both in written and practical taken together) should be submitted to the university duly endorsed by the Head of the Institution 15 days prior to the commencement of the theory examinations
- There is no provision for Revaluation of Answer papers and only re-totalling of Answer papers in the failed subject is allowed.
- Carry over subjects due to absence or failure
- A candidate is permitted to carry over only one first BNYS subject to the second BNYS course.
- A candidate should complete all the I and II BNYS subjects before entering into III BNYS course
- The candidate shall be permitted to carry over any one III BNYS failed subject before entering into IV BNYS
