INTRODUCTION

The International Conference on “Naturopathy in the Digital Era: Balancing Technology and Natural Healing” was successfully organized by Dept. of Yoga and Naturopathy on April 16–17, 2025, at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The conference aimed to explore the intersection of traditional healing systems—particularly Yoga and Naturopathy—with modern digital advancements in healthcare.
In the current landscape, where lifestyle diseases are on the rise, the relevance of time-tested, drugless therapies rooted in the body’s self-healing capacity has never been more crucial. This event provided a vital platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, and innovators to engage in meaningful dialogue on how ancient wellness traditions can be effectively integrated with cutting-edge technology for holistic, preventive, and therapeutic healthcare solutions.

DAY 2 – 17th APRIL, 2025

Day 2 of the International Conference was marked by significant events and esteemed dignitary participation. The day was graced by the presence of Thiru. Ma. Subramanian, Honourable Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, and Pro Chancellor of the University, who served as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice-Chancellor, with a special address delivered by Dr. K. Sivasangeetha, Registrar (FAC). The day began with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. Dr. Sivasangeetha welcomed the gathering, and the Vice-Chancellor delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of integrating naturopathy with digital innovations. The Chief Guest was honoured and officially released the conference souvenir, followed by his keynote address highlighting the state’s commitment to supporting traditional systems of medicine. Dr. R. Malathi, Principal cum Medical Superintendent, Excel Medical College for Naturopathy and Yoga along with all other principals of participating colleges were invited to the dais and honoured with mementos as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the fields of naturopathy and yoga, and their support in making the conference a grand success. Dr. G. Bharathkumar, Conference Coordinator, concluded the inaugural session with a heartfelt vote of thanks.

As part of the day’s highlights, the Vice-Chancellor visited the conference stalls and presented awards in the valedictory function to the winners of the oral and poster presentations. Notably, Dr. Monisha S. N, Lecturer, Dept. of Yoga, secured first place in the oral presentation competition for her study on the efficacy of naturopathy and yoga in managing morbidity and preventing infertility. During the valedictory function, students from various naturopathy colleges presented a group yoga formation, with an outstanding performance by Ms. Rawlaah, a second-year, 2022 Batch student. Furthermore, around 50 students from our college actively participated in the sessions, enriching their understanding of traditional healing in modern healthcare contexts.

It was our privilege and honour to share the platform with esteemed leaders and distinguished speakers during the conference. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Raghavendra Rao M, Director of the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN); Dr. N.K. Manjunath Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SVYASA University; Prof. Dr. Prabhakaran, Executive Director of the Centre for Chronic Disease Control, New Delhi; and Dr. Sunil Paudel, Chairman and Founder of Spark International Health Resort, Kathmandu, Nepal. Their insights, experience, and visionary contributions greatly enriched the dialogue and elevated the impact of the conference.

The second day of the conference not only celebrated the academic and practical excellence of the participants but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and interdisciplinary learning. It provided a vibrant platform for students and professionals to share knowledge, explore research, and showcase practical demonstrations of yoga and naturopathy. This convergence of traditional wisdom and modern science marks a significant step toward building a holistic, inclusive, and digitally empowered healthcare future.

The event also fostered collaborations and networking opportunities among professionals and students, enabling them to exchange knowledge and explore future avenues for research and development.
In conclusion, this conference not only celebrated the synergy between ancient wisdom and modern technology but also reinforced the importance of holistic, preventative, and drugless healthcare in today’s fast-paced world. As the event came to a close, it was evident that the insights and connections made will continue to drive the growth and recognition of Naturopathy and Yoga as essential components of global health and wellness.
