Pharmaceutical chemistry is an interdisciplinary science that, over the past decade, has seen tremendous development. The subject has reached a considerable degree of complexity today, generally recognized as a branch of organic chemistry. It includes many aspects, such as the synthesis, separation, purification and characterization of anticipated organic compounds that can be used to treat and cure diseases in medicine. On the other hand, a relationship between chemical structure and biological activity is established. Medicinal Chemist plays a very critical role, in the design and production of selective, possible, non-toxic, new chemical entities that meet all the necessary pharmacokinetic properties.
Pharmaceutical Analysis is a branch of Practical Chemistry used to classify, determine, isolate, purify, and elucidate the structure of the compound used in pharmaceutical product formulation. The department of Undergraduate Chemistry, which consists of four laboratories dedicated to medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry and inorganic pharmaceutical chemistry is equipped to systematically investigate and improve these fundamentals. Each laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to give students a hands-on experience.
